Testimonial Archives -- In their Words

I am proud and honored to have been a consultant, trainer and coach for Leadership Transformation Group over the past 5 years. I have found that their training programs and curriculum are relevant, transformative and highly effective.

Participants leave trainings feeling enlightened informed and re-committed. LTG's dedication to inspiring and empowering both the leaders and workers of so many of our essential government agencies is unparalleled and is of the utmost importance.

I am also always impressed with their commitment to "practice what they preach." The partners at LTG are continually working both on their personal growth and on exploring ways to incorporate cutting edge modalities into their training programs. Leadership Transformation Group - that's what they do and that's who they are.

It is very rare to come across an opportunity specifically a training opportunity, which impacts both your professional and personal growth and development. LTG improved my vision and effectiveness in the workplace through enhanced communication, focus and "big picture" thinking without losing attention to smaller issues.

More importantly, the LTG experience had an effect on the entire workplace and team members I've been associated with because the tools acquired are useful for everyone. The major bonuses were increased productivity, team cohesiveness and quality of services to the community. Over ten years after receiving the training, the tools received are still being used on a regular basis! I am a more effective manager because of LTG.

LTG transformed my view of an organization's use of a consulting firm. Instead of mechanistic technical assistance, LTG worked with our Division as compassionate, intelligent experts. LTG staffs insert a common sense, human perspective in their trainings and consultations in ways that resonate with staff at all levels. In this way we were able to build needed bridges of communication throughout the Division.

Many lessons learned remain alive and now members of the agency share a language that binds us. From senior executives to those on the front line who are charged with directly serving clients, we call ourselves "mid-level managers" adept at negotiating relationships upwards, across and downwards from a position of power and influence.

Of the many strategies invoked by the agency to better serve youth who are remanded into detention, our partnership with LTG is a flag ship initiative to bring positive reformative transformation to juvenile detention in New York City.

For the busy leaders of non-profit agencies, time for reflective thinking is more elusive that a seven-figure grant for organizational capacity building.

For me, executive coaching has been a time- efficient process for reflecting, strategizing and focusing that has been instrumental to my ability to initiate and manage large-scale and rapid changes in my agency.

Executive coaching is a small investment of time and resources that yields major dividends.

"Working in a fast-paced, high stakes work environment can compromise a manager's ability to be reflective, and to maintain healthy communication and team work with peers. The coaching I received from LTG was tremendously helpful because it created a space where I could regularly focus on these two functions. As a result, I was more effective in moving my key priorities forward"

Liz Roberts, Deputy Commissioner Division of Family Support Services, NYC Administration for Children's Services

"I have worked for the division for over 30 years and I have never been as inspired or as impressed with anything offered as training. It is helping me in becoming a better supervisor during this very difficult transition of our agency."

Supervisor, NYC Administration for Children's Services

"LTG has been identified as having provided the best and most positively received training in the history of the agency."

The New York State Office of Children and Family Services

"At first I did not want to address issues of race and leadership, too...it's always been too painful in the past...but this curriculum gave me the tools and the confidence to work with these issues as I grow as an executive..."

Leadership Academy participant

"This coaching has been like therapy, only better. I am able to reflect on things hard to look at, and get to results that help my organization..."

John Banati, Deputy Fire Commissioner, NYC Fire Department

One of the tasks the agency asked LTG to undertake was the training of all ACS's Supervisory and managerial staff. Over the course of 2 years, more than 1,600 supervisors and managers were trained on a curriculum designed by LTG.

Each class of participants commented that this was the best training they had ever received after years on the job. Throughout all of our interactions with LTG, they have been highly professional and immediately responsive to executive needs and concerns, always operating with reliability and commitment to our Reform Plan.

"The LTG training provided instruction that enlightened our ambition and abilities. It enriches our desire to be diligent public servants. We will return to our administrative obligations with a renewed spirit and mindset to become more than experienced employees but valuable assets to our agency. In the beginning, a few of us approached the LTG training recognizing our potential while others reassured their determination to become greater leaders. The theory of management and quality as the foundation to build, operate, produce, and lead motivates us to aim higher and continue moving forward."

May 22, 2007, The graduating Class of Managers and Supervisors from the Administration for Children's Services

"I have found that LTG and its partners Elizabeth Laboy and Steve Burghardt, have operated at the highest level of professionalism in curriculum development, trainings, conference and retreat facilitations and consultative interventions.

Steve Burghardt has worked with me in a professional and engaged manner where he has demonstrated genuine commitment to me and my executive agenda while not hesitating to push me on my own development. He was able to replicate this coaching skill with my executive team at a recent retreat. What began with some skepticism about the retreat's overall value concluded with uniform accolades for the leadership development and executive team-building that occurred."

April, 2003 Linda Gibbs, former Commissioner, NYC Department of Homeless Services

"LTG's use of Open Space action planning over two days produced results that far surpassed all predictions, including those that had been hopeful. Because of the outstanding results accomplished in just two days of facilitation by Dr. Tolliver, I strongly recommend LTG Open Space Interventions as a proven method of long and short term planning and team building. It is especially valuable for organizations and communities that must accomplish a great deal in a short time frame, must bring together a wide range of actors to work together, and is willing to make the effort to engage them in meaningful projects that will extend well beyond the planning process itself."
